Description
“Even those who reach the farthest, still falter.” A man clad in dark sea-blue robes offers with a wispy voice; old and frail. “No man, nor woman, is free of failure.” He looks down at a little girl, no older than seven who sits upon his lap; she looks up with wide glistening eyes, drinking in the man’s every word as he continues. “A man I once saw, courageous and powerful.” The man slowly shakes his head, causing the few scraps of hair left upon his head to wiggle. “He tore down the lines of friend and foe that day, and at The Battle of Loss, he stood as a champion for all.” “What’s a champoon?” The little girl asks as she gently kicks her feet back and forth. With a soft smile pulling aged flesh, the man reaches up and gently pats her head. “Someone to believe in.” He slowly nods to no one. “Without him, I wouldn’t be here today.” Shouting out with reaching arms extending around the man’s waist, the little girl embraces him in a hug. “I’m happy you’re here!” The man’s eyes soften as he looks down at her. “I didn’t release what he offered us that day, a chance to remove the hate we built for ourselves.” He reaches down and wraps his hands around the little girl, offering the softest of squeezes. “Offering us hope.” Book 2 in the series.
