Description
Earth in 2215 is divided in more ways than one. In a population of 12 billion, 95% are permanently thirsty and starving, while a privileged few continue to live as though nothing has changed. But everything has changed: a 2,000-mile scorching desert around the equator is now an uninhabitable wasteland. Scarce supplies of drinkable water, combined with rising sea levels and drought are leading to wars, mass migration and social unrest. The Earth*s resources, from fresh water to fresh air, are controlled by large corporations and the client governments that do their bidding.
Fleeing from this collapsing planet are the occupants of Pangea base, a gleaming habitat on Magdur, a new world that orbits a star 500 light years from Earth. Inside are 1,000 lucky settlers seeking a new start and a new life away from the hellhole that was once their home. Unbeknownst to them a new nightmare shares their home: The planets indigenous life forms cruelly captured, bent to the will of man and genetically modified to harvest the most precious mineral in the known universe. Conjured into life by the very same hands whose previous creations caused havoc on Earth, leading to the death of hundreds.
It is vital that the presence of these creatures is kept from the settlers for the time being#. Knowledge of their existence on the planet would cause terror and uproar. But one terrible day the universe intervenes, all hell breaking loose, and the settlers become unwitting pawns in a deadly and complex game between the corporation running the planet, the scientists struggling to control their creations, and the new force of a cult that will stop at nothing for control of the settlers and the world they are trapped upon. Amidst this chaos, four characters struggle for survival and control: the young cadet forced to confront the horrors of her past, the egotistical soldier lusting after more than just glory, the psychic torn between her career and the devastating implications of her work, and the religious counsellor molded by the cruelty of his life on Earth. They are all entangled in a story of greed, lies and heroism that will challenge everyone to live under the Nadinium Sky.
